アメリカでどんな場合で浴衣を着るのでしょうか。

アメリカはいろいろな文化が一つの国に集まっているところです。世界でそんなところはけっこう珍しいです。アメリカの文化にはもちろん日本の文化も加えています。

服は文化の大きい部分です。日本の伝統的な服を考える時、着物が想いかびます。今の日本に浴衣は若い人に人気な伝統的な服です。特に夏祭りに若い人が浴衣を着て行きます。高い浴衣も安い浴衣もあるので誰でも着られます。

日本では伝統的な服を着る機会が増えています。普通の買物をするでさえ時に着る人もいます。アメリカでは？機会はアニメ大会の場合しかありません。浴衣を着て写真をとるとアメリカで機会を表せると思います。

その写真を見ると、人々は浴衣の美しさを分かってきます。アメリカで着たら、どんな感じかが分かって来ます。着たことのない人は「いいなぁ」や「着よう」と思うようになります。日本の文化に興味をもちます。そしてアメリカのカラフルな分かにももっと興味をもちますように。

In America what kinds of situations do you wear yukata?

America is a place where many different cultures are brought together. In the world this kind of place is quite rare. Within these cultures is Japanese culture.

Clothing is a big part of culture. When you think of traditional Japanese clothing, kimono comes to mind. Now-days the traditional clothing known as yukata is popular among young people in Japan. They especially like to wear yukata when they go to summer festivals. While yukata can be expensive, there are also cheaper more affordable ones available. Thus everyone can enjoy wearing yukata.

In Japan the opportunities to wear traditional clothing are increasing. You can even go shopping while wearing traditional clothes. What about in America? Aside from anime conventions there aren't really any opportunities. By taking photographs I hope to show that there are opportunities to wear yukata in America.

When looking at this photos I hope people can appreciate the beauty of yukata. I hope that viewers can understand when to where yukata. I hope people who have never worn yukata will become inspired to try it sometime. And I hope people will become more interested in Japanese culture and in the colorful culture of America.
